One of the most charming things about travelling on the "Sea Cloud", flagship of a small fleet of refined fantastic cruise ships is the sensation that although you are various miles from terrain, you are right at home.
The Sea Cloud is an esteemed ship with a distinction, it was designated by its primary owner, Lady Marjorie Post, to truly be a residence away from home on the water. Seldom in the world of vacation cruises can one truly high status experience the emotion of absolute comfort and fantastic as is felt on the Sea Cloud. With a huge cabin complete with a hearth and walk in wardrobe you are right at home and possess all the comforts of home. This room looks nothing like a room on a liner, even the most impressive prestigious stateroom on a larger liner has the feeling that it is designed for the seven seas. The only point which gives this rooms place away once the exit is closed is the gentle roll of the ocean and the portholes as a substitute of windows. The same is correct of the second owner?s wonderful berth, festooned this occasion in reds and cream, with dark timber panelling and atmospheric light. It is no wonder when you contemplate the unparalleled history of this stunnning vessel.
Marjorie Post, consort of Wall Street legend E.F. Hutton, and herself a winning business woman, spent 2 years making sure that the Sea Cloud was fitted out precisely to her specs. After her marriage broke up, Lady Post refused to let go of her beloved craft, and demanded that her companion sign over full possession , he did and Lady Post commenced to spend more and more time on the Sea visiting Europe and the Soviet Union, hosting the Crowned Heads of Europe onboard. The only way she would give up the exquisite liner was for patriotism. Following the Japanese Assault on Pearl Harbour the US Navy was in severe disarray and Lady Post in an undertaking of altruism which surprised all who understood how much she loved Sea Cloud, signed the commission of the ship over to the US Navy to facilitate with the war effort.
Lady Post would regain Sea Cloud when the war complete, but owing to rationing of supplies the refitting took 5 years, but allowed the rigging to be thoroughly adapted. However, with the alterations the combat had created on the cost of living and with the mounting overheads of labour the yacht was too much for the ageing Lady Post and she eventually sold it in 1950.
The romantic relations of this liner were held in reserve accurately the same through all these years, it is still appointed as Lady Post specified, and smugly bears its stripes from the US Fleet telling its service toward the country. And luckily for us it has been operated as one of the very best fantastic cruise ships ever since.
The company has commissioned and operated new boats with the equivalent level of superb and the attitude instilled in Sea Cloud as a home away from home and these yachts make up the most equisite craft on the sea.
